Lunch with Jessica at Nando’s

Well to start off this post, this is a way overdue post. Seems like last post was almost two weeks ago. And two weeks ago was also the lunch I ate with Jessica. So anyway moving on. This lunch appointment was long coming even before I went for reservist almost a month ago. Jessica is a friend of mine whom I know when I was with ACP. She is one of my associate trainers whom I deploy for training. Moving out of ACP, we continued to be friends. She being a fan of food-hunting – well basically she likes to hunt for good food to eat; I thought it will be nice to hang out with her. Since I too enjoy eating good food! Our first lunch was to Nando’s located at Tampines Mall. Well, I have eaten Nando’s before at Vivo City. So it wasn’t my first time. But since she has not tried it before, I did not mind going there again.

In fact I ordered the same 1/4 chicken dish that I ordered the previous time. Guess there is no many varitey to choose from the menu actually. However instead of the Lemon & Herb sauce, I went with the Mild Peri-Peri sauce. Well that mild was already spicy to me. So probably I will not try that again next time. Oh anyway I may not go back again since Nando’s is nothing that special actually. Aside from the food itself, it was a great time chatting with Jessica. Talked from ACP to her current job to her university application and much more!

After lunch, I wanted to check if the supermarket has this Kellock’s product called Pop-Tarts. My cousin Pristina recently tweeted about it saying how nice it is. I went to the Cold Storage and NTUC supermarkets opposite my place but they did not have it. Thankfully the NTUC Finest at Century Square has it! Jessica was even sure they had it when I showed her what I was looking for. Because she bought it before. There was when she also introduced me to eat yogurt. Well I am a fan of Sogurt but that is not exactly yogurt. She introduced me because I was talking about trying to eat healthy. So I decided to buy one to try. Indeed, it was nice and filling and healthy! Always when I eat yogurt now, I will sure pour some Fruity Pebbles inside to sweeten the taste! Anyway the cereal is meant to be healthy!

You should try it! Oh and yes the Pop-Tarts are nice too! Will try other flavours next time!

Yomenya Goemon

Two weeks ago, I met up with my long-time friend Geraldine to do some catching up! She introduced me to this restaurant called Yomenya Goemon located in Changi City Point. The new shopping mall located at Singapore Expo. A restaurant that specialize in Japanese pasta. It was during lunch hours that we went yet there was no need to queue to enter.

The menu was really filled with many selections. Meat sauce, cream sauce, tomato sauce and even soup pasta! They also serve Japanese pizza that looks very tempting. That is what I thought of trying next time going there. They have this menu called “Anti Pasta” too in the event you do not wish to eat pasta. The prices are quite reasonable, ranging from $12 onwards you are able to enjoy a good meal. The Japanese pizza does look a little costly though averaging $17 each. And if you top up a few more dollars for their lunch set, you will get a soup, salad and drink. Salad! This restaurant offers you the salad bar to select whatever you want for your salad. But remember, it is only one time serving!

Geraldine ate the Meat & Eggplant Pasta in meat sauce while I ate Meat Carbonara Pasta in meat sauce. Well of all the choices, I wanted to try the meat sauce one because it is the least common sauce that can be found in other pasta restaurant. And this was really good! They cracked like an egg on top of the pasta when it is served. I was worried I could not finish because the serving was huge! If my mom is to order, I am quite sure she will not be able to finish it. So if you are not a big eater, do share with your friends. They have this “Half & Half” section in the menu whereby you can order two kinds of pasta but the serving will be half. That is about $18 for two kinds of pasta and you will be able to share it with someone else.

It was a great meal and besides the food, it was also a great time to fellowship with Geraldine! Will I go back again? Sure I will! It is nice and I am going to find another opportunity to go again. Anyone up for a pasta meal? :)

Done with reservist; Job hunting in progress

So I finished my 17 days long in-camp training reservist last Friday. I am pleased with this time I spent with my platoon mates. For the first time I am actually attach with a section of people rather than holding the appointment of a PC (Platoon Commander) Runner. Seeing how my section mates work together during the outfield training, I am impressed with their spirit! Like seriously! It was a good time I spent. The disappointing part of this training was that I failed my IPPT. Not once (that I posted about last week the news) but twice. On my second attempt before I came out of reservist, I failed my 2.4KM again. First time timing was 13:36 minutes. Second time timing was 13:08 minutes. Despite improving by almost 30 seconds, that was still not good enough to meet the passing timing of 12:40 minutes. I really wanted to pass it but sadly I did not. Guess I have to train more before making another attempt at the test.

I am determined to keep fit. Now I know it is actually quite important to maintain fitness! So I am looking for a jogging buddy! I guess has to be someone who stays near me. Anyone interested? :)

Moving forward now that I resigned from my job, I am job hunting. I have been sending online applications for many various positions in different companies. Ranging from M1, Starhub, Singtel, Marina Bay Sands, Resort World Sentosa, Changi Airport, Singapore Police Force, Kent Ridge Tutor Centre to even a Management Trainee at McDonald’s. All I can do is to wait for replies. And while waiting, hoping to use time to meet up with friends! There have been some friendship issues I faced with my closer friends. As they are unfortunately distancing themselves from me, I have to move on to either seek new friends or rekindle some older friendships. So far so good but of course I never want to lose any friends. Also if anyone has job opportunities, do let me know too! :)

It was a tough week

It was one of the toughest weeks I had back in army camp. We had training from 4-6KM route march, crossing water obstacle, urban operations and more. But I guess what disappointed me the most was that I failed my IPPT test. I passed all the static stations but failed to meet the 2.4KM timing. I failed to pace myself correctly. During the 3rd and 4th lap around the track, I almost died already. When I cleared the 5th round seeing the timing at almost 11 minutes, I knew I had another 1 minute and 40 seconds to finish the last 400 metres. Towards the last 100 metres, I made a final dashed. I crossed the line, that close to “dying“. I did not even know my timing but I did not expect to fail. I was choking and vomiting on the floor. And when the news came that I failed, I was devastated. I was 40 seconds short of the passing timing of 12:40 minutes. If I knew so, I will not have made the dash that got me so breathless in the end.

I was so physically tired with muscles aching all over after that IPPT test on Wednesday. That was what made Thursday and Friday training so tough physically for me. If only I pass, it will make the pain worthwhile at least. Sigh, I just have to take the test again next Friday, the final day of the in-camp training. The coming week training is the final week but should not be that tough. The only training is the 3 days 2 nights outfield training. More of a mental challenge than physical. Even though is it sure going to be tiring. But once I return back to camp on Wednesday, I know it is going to be over! :) So I look forward to finishing the next week safely and get back to civilian life!

He has Risen! Happy Easter!

Jesus is alive!!! If you believe in Him, without seeing Him, God thinks you’re very special! That is exactly what faith is, believing in God even though you can’t see Him.

Happy Easter Everyone! Our Savior Lives not just today, but everyday! :)
