I woke up at 5:45am to report back to camp by 7:30am. After hours of waiting, I was able to get my interview with my unit Commanding Officer. When I told her about my case of wanting to defer because of my studies, he immediately approve. He said something like, “Temasek Poly studies? Then you must go! I cannot stop you.” Then he signed my deferment form and I was granted deferment! That was probably the only good thing that happened because later in the evening when I was playing basketball, Chee Hoong whacked me hard on my already fractured finger. Instantly the pain was excruciating! Instantly I knew it was not good. Brittany persuaded me to immediately go back to hospital to see. So that was what I did. I was in Tan Tock Seng Hospital from 8.30pm until past midnight! Waited for more than 3 hours until finally a doctor attended to me.
I took another x-ray there. Doctor said there was no other fracture seen although I am feeling pains around the finger area. But the x-ray showed the other parts of the bones were smooth (means ok). He cannot tell if the current fracture worsens or not because he does not have my previous x-ray records to compare too. Not much he could do but he gave me a splint to be attach with my finger to immobilize the finger. But I felt the splint is making my finger stay too long in the same position making it painful when I do remove it.
If you want to know how bad I feel, try typing on your keyboard and using your mouse without your right index finger. So many things I do now I have to use my left hand. It is so difficult! :( Previously when recovering, I can rate my recovery at 80%. After yesterday it dropped to about 20% again. Now I have to set my determination to really stop playing basketball for weeks or not even more than a month. Probably just go to the gym to run on treadmill. I really want to recover!
So even being deferred from army, I am given 4 days medical leave to be home. How “nice” to have another week of “extended” (unwanted) holidays!
Please pray for my recovery.
