Consequences & Effects of Idolatry

Rev. Dr. A.R. Bernard was invited to minister to us at City Harvest Church over the weekend services. He preached a very powerful sermon on the consequences and effects of idolatry. The consequences of how it affected human beings and the effects on the society. The consequence is the separation from God and the effect is chaos in human society.

“Idolatry is seeking security and meaning in someone or something other than Jehovah God.”

People will seek safety, security and meaning other than God. Example seeking for money. Having money and being rich is not wrong, that is not a sin. But when your money becomes your security instead of God, then you are on the edge of idolatry.

He went on to preached on how God had to send Himself as Jesus Christ to reconcile the world back to Himself. He went on to preached on the issue of having faith. There are just so much he preached and I compiled a 4-page sermon notes for you to read.

Exodus 20:4-6 “You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing love to a thousand of those who love me and keep my commandments.
