Yet another freak injury. Barely 5 minutes into playing a match with my friends at the basketball court, I jumped wanting to catch the ball. Instead of landing two feet on the ground, my left feet landed on my friend’s foot. Immediately I heard two loud cracks from my ankle and I was screaming in pain. The pain was excruciating! Unlikely a normal sprain which I know the pain will go off after the initial impact; this pain persisted as I lay at the basketball court. The worst went through my mind to even think that I may have fractured or dislocated my ankle. One uncle, who was playing with us, drove me to Tan Tock Seng Hospital. The uncle went back while Chee Hoong stayed with me throughout. I was put on the wheelchair at the Accident & Emergency Department. Finally after two hours, the doctor saw me. Thank God the x-ray shows no sign of bone injury. It was just a badly twisted ankle that ruptured the ligament. By then my left ankle was swollen 3 times of my right ankle. I went home with a pair of crutches.
It seriously requires quite some strength too just to use the crutches. I will just minimize my moments at home. Probably not even want to step out of home for the next 7 days of medical leave I have. I presume this injury may take up to a month to recover. “Good” thing as I can also use this time to rest my fractured finger. I am so frustrated that my fractured finger recovery is so slow. I decided to buy another splint from the one Tan Tock Seng gave me the first time round. At least this new splint gives me slightly more mobility. More important I am able to click my house and type with this splint.
Thanks for everyone who was at the basketball court yesterday to help me. Special thanks to…
- Shi Yuan’s father who drove me to the hospital.
- Chee Hoong who accompanied me and assisted me all throughout my ordeal at the hospital.
- Chee Hoong’s parents who came to the hospital to drive us home.
- My dear Brittany for all your prayers even for my fractured finger. Now another added to your prayer list.
The doctor who attended to me still happily said, “I have seen worst. Don’t worry when you recover, continue to play basketball.” Yeah of course, I cannot wait to play again. For now, its rest and recovery.
“God, I proclaim you are my Jehovah Rapha, God my Healer! Please heal me of my fractured finger and my twisted ankle that I will have a speedy recovery! Let the fractured bone of my right index finger go back into its place. Let the swelling of my left ankle subside and let every ligament, muscle and fiber of my left ankle be healed! In Jesus name, I SHALL BE HEALED! By His strips, I WILL BE HEALED! I pray all these in Jesus name, AMEN!“
