Yeo Keng Nam Chicken Rice

I was asking Brittany to recommend place to eat. Then she recommended this Yeo Keng Nam Chicken Rice store located Braddell Road. Because I know Louis likes chicken rice too, I invited him along to join Brittany and me for lunch. It was yesterday that Louis and I drove to Brittany’s school to fetch her after her school ended. Then we drove to this place to eat. I have been driving passed this place quite often but I never stop by to eat their food. Not realizing it is nice until Brittany recommended it.

The place inside was kind of small. Hence the sitting capacity is not a lot. So I guess it will be really crowded on weekend if I am to bring my parents here to eat. And it seems like they do accept reservations. The service from the staff was good though – opening the door for customers and the greetings. Upon looking at the menu, I was quite shock that the price was quite pricey though. I was expecting a plate of chicken rice to be just about $4. But it turns out that each person will cost at least $5 per plate of chicken, and that is excluding the rice. Include a bowl of rice of $0.80, a normal plate of chicken rice will cost $5.80. And the chicken is not boneless for your information. Nevertheless, the taste of the chicken rice is good.

They also serve other dishes like you will find at a zi-zhar store in a coffee shop. So we also tried their cereal sotong (squid). And their dishes are also expensive to say the least. This plate (below photo) of cereal sotong cost $12. And the drink is $1.30 each.

The total bill came up to $34.70 for a three-people lunch. Considering it is only chicken rice, it was really quite expensive. Although the food is nice, I will not go back alone to eat another time. I cannot afford another plate of chicken rice for $5.80. I will go back only if I am going with my parents. In conclusion, Louis and I feel that the chicken rice store near Hougang Mall, the usual one we often go too is still nicer and cheaper definitely.
