So I have been using my new Morotola Milestone for a week now and I love the functions of it. When looking for a new phone, I knew camera functions was not longer a priority for me since I own a DSLR now. So I wanted a phone that is cool in connectivity and functions. Many phones were recommended to me by Louis. Ranging from Motorola to HTC to Nokia to Blackberry. Nokia was never in the league for me actually because of bad experiences I had with their customer service. So leaves me the other three brands. Oh by the way, Sony Ericsson is no more a brand I want to follow. Just want to try something new like Windows Mobile or Android which I just heard about.
Heard about how lag Windows Mobile may be, so I gave up with the option and keep myself look at phones with Android or Blackberry. I was close to deciding on Blackberry after feeling that I do not need to do much on my phone in terms of Facebook, Twitter, connecting to the net. So a 1GB Blackberry data-plan should be good enough. However what puts me off is that Blackberry phones have small screen and no touch-screen. Touch-screen is the way to go nowadays! So I was left with HTC Legend or Motorola Milestone. Problem was Singtel, my service provider, does not have Milestone. Milestone was exclusive for Starhub (another service provider) users. However I was determined to get Milestone after see the not-so-nice design of HTC Legend.
So what I did was I went to Singtel. Re-contracted my plan for up to 2 years again with an iPhone 16GB and traded-in my Sony Ericsson C905 for $150. So I paid $366 at Singtel. Then I took the iPhone and immediately sold it to the shop I was going to buy my Milestone from. Means I will be buying the Milestone “without contract”. I sold the iPhone for $900, profiting about $300 from that sale. Then I bought the Milestone for $660. Confusing? Okay, end of the day I just paid about $150 for my Motorola Milestone. :)
I was considering if I really needed a data-plan. But I am so glad I did choose the 12GB data plan. For I do not know how much data I have downloaded since getting my phone. Love the applications and games on the ever growing Android market. I am totally making full use of the capabilities of the phone. Keeping my Facebook, Twitter, MSN 24/7 on is no longer a problem even when I am not at home. People say 12GB is impossible to use finish. Although I have not got my first-month bill yet, I am pretty sure I cannot make use of the free 12GB. That is just too much if I do not download videos or movies on my phone.
Although there is a physical QWERTY keyboard on the phone (that I thought I will so have to make-use off since I never use a touch-screen phone before), I never really use it. It is the matter of getting used to the touch-screen. And with applications like Shapewriter Keyboard, it helps me a lot in how I SMS. Probably one day I will post about the applications I use.
So if you are looking for a new phone, consider Motorola Milestone. In fact, don’t just consider. This phone is a must! :)
