Random Pictures

It is Sunday and time for just a random pictures blog entry. :) Check out this shoe…

Huge right?! :D Haha! It is actually a bag. A bag that Xin Yun bought from Thailand while she was over there on holiday. She brought it to my house that day when she came so I took a photo of it. It is really cute! :) And here was a gift she bought for me…

Looks scary right? Stitches here and there with buttons as the eyes. Haha! Anyway “Thank you Xin Yin!” :)

My New Beast Commander

My old Adidas new Young Guns 2010 shoes are almost not wearable condition anymore. The insole of the shoes had come off. And the friction of the bottom of the shoes is bad. Now that I just checked on my blog, that pair was bought more than a year ago already. Since 23 May 2010, I was wearing that pair. I thought it was not too long ago that I bought it. So now that it has been one year, I think it lasted quite long. Some change basketball shoes like every 6 months. :)

Accompanied me to Queensway Shopping Centre were Tiffany, Derrick and Ian. Derrick and Ian wanted to go there to buy a present for Kenneth’s birthday (apparently is today (this is point of blogging), so “Happy Birthday Kenneth!“). Before going, I had no idea what to buy. All I knew I was looking for a high ankle shoes. I wanted to try Nike but none of the Nike models were nice. There was LeBron James one, but hell I am not going to buy that loser shoes. And there was Kobe Bryant shoes, but all low cut. For the purpose of protecting my ankle, I had to buy high ankle shoes. After shopping, I was down with two choices…

Both prices were the same. I kind of like the blue one more, so does Tiffany. But Derrick, Ian and Louis (I sent him the above picture through WhatsApp) all said the black was nicer. I finally decided to go with the black pair. Because it was newer and I kind of like the base of the shoes more. Looks more long-lasting. The shoe model is called Beast Commander. It is signed by the NBA All-Star player, Dwight Howard. So can imagine I am a guard player wearing a center player shoes.

Original price was $169 and I managed to bargain till $126. So I hope this pair will last me for another year or more since when I do start working, I should not be playing that often like I am for the past year. :)

Day Out with Tiffany

Actually it was two days out with Tiffany. (Or maybe more?) =) Anyway on Tuesday, we went to watch X-Men: First Class at Nex Shopping Mall. It was her first X-Men movie she watched so she was kind of lost to who the characters were. At Nex, I asked her “What is the chance of you meeting someone you know here?” “High!” she replied. Most epic thing happened; Jing Ying (a friend she knows, and someone who hates me) walked into the cinema and actually sat next to her! Haha! She was so uncomfortable throughout the movie. Thankfully Jing Ying did not notice her because he came in late with the friends and was dark. So immediately after the movie, we left. The movie was good! So if you have not watched it, go watch! :)

Then on Wednesday, we went out to shop a little. I was given $40 Takashimaya gift vouchers as my birthday present. Since February, I have not got the chance to go make use of it. Not knowing what I want to buy. I thought of buying like a combo keyboard and mouse. But went to Takashimaya, they did not sell computer products. Shopped around the sports department but also cannot find anything. I thought of buying new briefs! But since Tiffany was there, it was weird I went to that section. So end up not spending the vouchers. Probably will give it to my mum in exchange for maybe $30 cash. Hehe!

Therefore we drove to Funan IT Mall. Was shopping around knowing what I wanted to buy – Logitech MK260 combo of keyboard and mouse. I wanted that because it was a budget wireless combo set. My current Logitech combo was given to me by Juliet as a house warming gift – probably 5 years ago. So I thought it was time to change. And this combo only cost $37 at Popular. So when I saw it at PK Computer for only $29, immediately I bought it! Challenger was like scam! They were selling it for $47! So much for “Members’ Discount” at $45. Pathetic. But coming home to test the keyboard and mouse, the feeling was okay. But the hotkeys on the keyboard does not work. :( I tested it on my laptop it works. So I conclude that the keyboard is not working well for Windows 7. My laptop is on Windows Vista. I am still seeking help online to see what I can do. Anyway, it just $29 and is wireless, so I shall not complain much. :) I just have to live without the hotkeys. But if you are looking for a budget wireless combo keyboard and mouse, go for Logitech MK260! :)

From Funan IT Mall, we walked to Central shopping centre just so that Tiffany can buy Sticky sweets! She was so happy to finally bought the flavor she wanted – the Rainbow flavor. And since she wanted me to buy too, I bought a Mango Pudding flavor. Nice too! Then we went home after that.

Oh I forgot to mention that at Orchard, I brought her to N.Y.D.C to eat cheesecake! She has been craving for cheesecake for days! Always wanted to eat the cheesecake from Bread Talk. But since Bread Talk only sells a whole cake and not a slice, she cannot buy it. So I decided to bring her to eat at N.Y.D.C. She loved it so much! Although it cost $7 that slice, “她开心就好” (She happy can already.) I ordered at $10 mud pie. IT WAS AWESOME TOO! I will not mind going back there to eat again.

Alright that’s all for now! :) Bye!

Train City in Facebook

Two weeks ago I blogged about Monopoly Millionaires. A day after that, I immediately quit the game since I really did not find the push factor to play anymore. Today I am going to blog about another game that I just removed in Facebook – Train City. Train City is a game where you get to build your own city. Much like Social City and CityVille. Yeah I do like such building city kind of games. But Train City kept me playing for no more than 3 weeks and I decided to stop. As the name goes, “Train City”, I expect the game to be much more designed around the development of building a train system in the city. But I realised that was not the case. The train in the city is no more than just the main method to earn money while whether or not you design a good train system, does not matter. Moreover this game is quite time consuming just like the other two that I mentioned above. So I felt I should quit earlier than later else I will waste more time on it.

For now, I am addicted to My Shops! :) And of course I am not giving up on Restaurant City.

Graduated After 3 Years

After 3 years of education with Temasek Polytechnic, I finally graduated yesterday during the Graduation Ceremony 2011. It was a long journey for me to be 27 years old this year, yet only achieving a diploma certification. My education path has been hampered by the lack of knowing how important certification is in this ruthless working world. Back when I was 16 and completed my N-levels (normal) certification in secondary school, I had no intentions to go on for another year to complete the O-levels (ordinary) certification. While most people will have gone on to do so. Though I did not regret that decision to not take O-levels, I then wasted 2 years to do a private diploma. But it was too difficult for me to understand what was going on then. Hence I dropped out, wasting that 2 years. Then I went on to serve my National Service with the army. There were another 2 years gone. When I completed my National Service, I knew I had to continue studying. My parents were always nice to let me make my decision. Therefore I went on to pursue a NITEC certification with ITE. And because I was able to score exceptionally well in ITE, I was allowed to jump the Higher HITEC certification and move on directly into the polytechnic for a diploma certification.

Today I am holding a Diploma in Cyber & Digital Security. Basically a lot to do with computing and networking stuff. Today is also the day I am officially unemployed because I should be holding a job now. Yet I am still at home wondering what to do next. As in what kind of industry I should venture into.  2 months back, I applied for a job with the Singapore Police Force but was turned down that offer. Presently I am swaying to going back to ITE to work as a Technical Service Officer. One who will help lecturers in practical classes with students. Because I have this keen on wanting to impart knowledge to younger students. What is hindering me on that path is because in order to progress to be a lecturer, I will need a degree. Even with experience, I may not be able to teach. While if in the outside industry, I have may a higher chance to progress on a higher position with experience, without certification. Hence I am still deep in thoughts though. I am looking through newspaper and job hunting to see what is available for me.

Anyway this 3 years in Temasek Polytechnic has flown by quite quickly actually. And pretty much uneventful compared to all those who went on stage yesterday winning a lot of awards here and there. So I have pretty much nothing to talk about the 3 years. Probably the best thing was to meet Louis in class. He influenced me to play basketball and I probably spent most of my time with him. Going to eat good food; going shopping; changing the way I dress; accompanying me to meet a lot of my friends; etc. And yes really the most important is the basketball part! :) Because I still love the sport till this day! Nevertheless, I am also thankful to meet every single friend I came across and even my lecturers who helped me through my time. Including my parents who supported me though. “BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!” :)

And now… life has to go on. What’s next?
