HAPPY NEW YEAR 2012!

Final Post of 2011

What a year it has been! Seriously it did seem surreal that I woke up this morning realising that it is the last day of the year. I am waiting Manchester United vs. Blackburn while typing this entry. Apparently the match is so boring and slow pace. It seems like Manchester United are still in holiday mood. That is why I am so bored till I want to blog. At least I got time to make this final post of 2011 too. So let me review my 2011 very quickly.

Friendships

After graduating from Temasek Polytechnic, most of my friends went to National Service. Even my then-closest friend Louis whom I spent so much time with during school hours, playing basketball, going out is in the army. However I had a sudden increase of friends Derrick, my neighbour brought one or two friends from Edgefield Secondary over to our basketball court to play. Through that one or two friends, today I have over 20 friends from that school. Be it acquaintances, normal friends and certainly my closer friends like Tiffany, Xin Yun, Kenneth and my god-sister Chanel. I spent so much time with them before I actually started my working career. Enjoyed the times they came over after school to spend time with me. Hanging out together and taking photos and much more! I am very thankful for them all! Without this group of friends, I am probably friend-less till now since I do not have much social network. Nevertheless, I also appreciate those friends that I made that are not from Edgefield Secondary!

Working Career

After almost 3 months of job hunting, I started my first ever official job in September 2011. I applied for jobs like Police Officer, Air Traffic Controller, ITE Technical Officer, etc. but were all rejected. Of them all, I really wanted to be a police officer. Sadly that did not come true. I was a Training Executive with ACP Computer Training School. My job scope involves going to different primary and secondary schools to teach students. Mainly teaching about Media Literacy and occasionally teaching IT applications like Adobe Photoshop, Audacity, etc. In my short 4 months in this job, I truly enjoyed the teaching experience. Meeting so many different kinds of students from primary 4 all the way to secondary 2 levels. Many of the students I taught also added me on Facebook. There was so much for me to learn in these new job. And I am glad to say that after 4 months of hard work, I am now promoted to the designation of Assistant Training Manager with the same company. There are certainly much more for me to learn. Such as managing teachers; managing my trainers; managing my team and much more. Seems very pressurising at the same time exciting!

My Family

Not much to mention about this besides the fact that my brother finally married out at age 33. Today he is no longer living with my family under the same roof but with his wife. For myself, I am 27 going 28 next year. And I still cannot find a life partner. Yeah of course I want to find one. Occasionally I still think of my ex-girlfriend Rebecca. I even though I might even stand a second chance with her but I doubt that is possible. She still refuses to reply to my messages. Sigh. So if you have anyone to recommend to me, do so! :) “All the single ladies … All the single ladies …” :D

Looking Ahead

Erm, can I leave this to another post? Probably “2012 Goals” sometime later. So for now, I want to wish everyone a very Happy New Year 2012! Finally, “Thank you God for everything that happened in 2011! 2012 will be a better year ahead!

My Christmas Day

Woke up on Christmas Day all excited! Because a few of my friends agreed to go church service with me! I have been inviting Dean to service for almost a month already. Finally he kept his word to go with me on this Christmas service. Another friend who came along with me was Chanel. And the usual Tiffany! Ironically it was Chanel and Tiffany first time going out together again after reconciling their friendship some time ago. Dean knew them both since we are all Blackshot clan friends. So together with my mum, we went to City Harvest Church.

The only day that when you wear a hat that I will not look stupid. “Haha!” Ok for this case, Christmas hat. So anyway, kudos to the City Harvest drama team! It was an awesome drama production this year! The setting reminds me of Toy Story! I like the Transformer actor best! It was so cool! Anyway the best part of the service was Tiffany finally deciding to respond to the altar call! She so wanted to go forward from what I see. So I turned to ask, “Are you sure your sins are forgiven?” Seems to me that her eyes were watery. She told me she wanted to go forward but was afraid. So I held her and brought her forward. And there, she accepted Christ! The result of going to service with me for the past few months! Hallelujah! “Tiffany, so proud of you! You are now a child of God! So be Christ-like! Stop being so blur-like! :D

I received two (“Yes only two.“) presents this year. One was from my mum who bought me two polo t-shirts. The polo t-shirts are what I needed because I pathetically only have one orange one from Uniqlo. So now I have three! The other present was from Tiffany. She bought me a Logitech Cooling Pad! “Now that must be quite expensive!” I mean, cooling pad can buy those cheap $5-$10 kinds without brand. But this from Logitech, I am sure it’s above $20!

(Laptop not included. =P) So now I can put this new cooling pad on my office desk! “Thanks Tiffany for the gift!” To end the day, I ate dinner with Dean and Tiffany who came my place after church service. We went to New York New York at Heartland Mall. We shared a New York Platter.

That is it for my Christmas 2011! “Merry Christmas to everyone!

1-Altitude at One Raffles Place

I thought when I was at Marina Bay Sands – Sky Park, which was the highest point of Singapore. But I was wrong. 2 weeks ago, I went out with my colleague to 1-Altitude at One Raffles Place. It was 63 storeys up at the peak of 282 metres above ground and offers a spectacular 360 degrees view. It was like a bar kind of setting. A place where people goes there to chill out. I will never go to such places knowing I do not enjoy bar and it is expensive. This time round I agreed to go because … err … I also do not know why. But I did not regret making the decision because I got to really be on top of Singapore! My only regret was that I did not bring my DSLR camera. So my photos are not nice!

My boss treated us to the session. These was what we ate and drank.

And guess how much the bill came up to? $500++! For like only 4 pizzas, 2 chilli platter, 20 sticks of satay and some drinks. My fruit punch I ordered was already $10. 20 sticks of satay was already $30! That is why I will never go there again. Unless someone treats again. :)

It was an awesome experience though!

Candlelight Service at City Harvest

City Harvest Church very first candlelight service at Suntec City! Previous years, I did not bring my DSLR camera to take any photos. Or rather, take good photos as previously I was using my phone camera. So this morning, I decided to bring my camera with me instead! It was Tiffany’s first experience in such a candlelight service too. It was awesomely nice!

I even took a short video.

Can’t wait for Christmas next week! :)
