Birthday Dinner & More Presents

Posted by: Bryan Chung In: Blog Entries

Initially my mom booked my birthday dinner at a Japanese restaurant that we have not gone before. It was serving Japanese buffet. However because it was during the Chinese New Year period, the price was increased. Per person can be up to $50. I found it not worth to eat. So we landed up at another Japanese restaurant – Waraku located in Central, Clarke Quay. We had eaten here before. The last time also happened to be my birthday. And if I remember correctly, it was with my good friend Sebrina and my parents last year. Too bad this time, my girlfriend was unable to go with me.

The food was really nice! Just unfortunately, it was only 3 hours ago before dinner that I ate my birthday lunch with my girlfriend at New York New York. Hence I could not really eat a lot. We even had to packet the remaining sushi and I brought it back to the basketball court for Louis who was playing basketball with friends.

Now to write about more presents I received. Well not exactly many more but just 3 in particular.

The basketball was given to me by my god-brother Timothy! Let me tell you how much I appreciate his thoughts. He does not come from a very rich family and is brought up by a single parent. But knowing is my birthday, he really wanted to buy me something. He asked me what I wanted and then I asked him how much he had. Gosh! Knowing that little he has, I really did not want to take anything from him. But he insisted on giving me something. So I proposed he pays half of the amount of that ball while I pay the another half. Half of the cost of the ball is already half of his red packet money that he received for Chinese New Year. That is why I felt so bad and so appreciative. This really makes me feel that if you treat someone good, that person will treat you back good in return. For my friendship with Timothy has been over 3 years. Although we seldom meet, we are still somehow close to one another. He was just a stranger from the gaming world I came across back then.

That bowl you see in the photo was given to me by New York New York restaurant. And the other package was from my good friend from Sweden! Yet another online friend I know through Facebook. Jennie is one whom I can consider closer than friends I have here in Singapore even. She was the one I could share my problems I had with my girlfriend with. Although younger than me, she is already married and could understand what I am going through. In the packet, she sent me two packets of chewing gum, a book filled with pictures of Sweden and a birthday card.

Thank you Timothy and Jennie!

In a Relationship

Posted by: Bryan Chung In: Blog Entries

This must has been a long overdue blog entry that many of my friends are so eager to know. Ever since I changed my status on Facebook to “In a Relationship” over two weeks ago, I have been asked by so many of my friends of who my girlfriend is. However because she wanted our relationship to be discreet then, I had to keep my silence besides those closer to me knowing who she is. After a week of smooth discreet sailing, suddenly her parents found out. How they found out, I shall not disclose here. Oh, my girlfriend is actually living in the same block as me. So she is my “neighbour-become-girlfriend”. Oh and her name is, Rebecca.

I first got to know she existed when during one Sunday; I went down to play basketball. While booking the court, I saw someone who wrote “Rebecca” as the person who booked the court at the current time and living in the same block as me. So when I was at the court, I realised there were only two girls. I knew one of her was not Rebecca because I have actually seen Rebecca few times before, taking some lift together. That evening, I did not play basketball with her because she was playing cards with her friends instead. But I did play basketball with her friends. That night I went home, I started to search for her online. Making use of my Google-ing skills I was taught in school, I tried to search for her. With just a name, it was hard for me to find. Searched in Facebook and there were like 5000 matches for “Rebecca”. But the more I refine my search and going to Google, I finally found the very her I was looking for! So that was how I got to know her. By not it was over a month ago.

The past few days had been very rocky for us. Well actually there is no problem between me and her technically. It became the issue of her and her parents. Her mother ranted at her about being in a relationship while still studying. And her father was also not agreeing to it. Then just two nights ago, the father decided to have a heart-to-heart talk with her. It was then she cried and realised a lot of things. Details of what happened I will not say here. But because of those things she heard from her father, she decided to write them a letter. A letter that will express how she feels and how she wants the relationship. Well my dear is better in writing than speaking. So she woke up early yesterday morning at 5am and started to write the letter. Left the letter on the table for the parents and went off to school.

Next she received an SMS from her mother saying that she cannot agree nor disagree with the relationship. By then, she was already relief that the mother did not disagree. Then by night, we were both taken by surprised. The father told her that they (the parents) will respect her decision and are willing to give her their support! STUNNED! We were really left stunned! Two weeks into a discreet relationship, we faced such strong opposite. Yet it was all good in the end.

Truthfully, all these cannot have happen without Rebecca and me constantly praying, seeking God for guidance. Every night I told her to keep admitting, believing and confessing to God of us really wanting to be together. The “A-B-C” I learned in church. For me, I believed that it will be possible. I kept confessing that with God, nothing shall be impossible. If God put us into this, He will carry us through. And the miracle happened. Yes to us is a miracle because how the parents reacted was something that never happened before. Rebecca had a relationship before me that failed because of parental objection too. So right from the start, she did not pin much hopes of the parents allowing her to be with me. GOD WORKS WONDER! So I really want to give thanks to God and be He continues to bless our relationship from here on. We will continue to put God in the center of our relationship.

And now is for us to walk the path of the journey ahead…

Birthday Lunch with My Dear

Posted by: Bryan Chung In: Blog Entries

Updated on 18 February 2010

I made this post earlier, password protecting this entry. But suddenly in the span of 24 hours, things have changed. And I am allowed to freely blog about me and my girl-friend now! I will explain more another time. But the original post is as continue…

So it was my birthday yesterday and I brought my dear to New York New York to eat. Instead of eating at the branch opposite at Heartland Mall, we ate at Downtown East branch. Again is all just to make sure that we were not seen together. Well since this is a more protected entry, I will not need to blog so much too. So here are some photos!

Although she was physically there with me, her mind was not sadly. Well don’t think that I did not mention anything means our relationship is sailing smoothly. Technically there is no problem between me and her. Just other factors. I will blog about it more as password protected entries. Just watch out for them.

Again, please do not share the password with others, even if the person is someone I know. Ask the person to come ask me instead. :)

Love you dear!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Posted by: Bryan Chung In: Blog Entries

Not surprisingly, birthdays year after year, do not seem that exciting to me after all. Maybe a decade ago yes. That was when I was only 16. But today I turn 26! “Super old can?!” That is why I am glad to have a girl who is willing to accept me despite the age gap between me and her. Makes me feel like when I was nineteen, I did not want to cross out of the “teen” (nineteen) age. Then blink of an eye, so many years flown past. Yet I am still studying for a diploma while people my age most likely started their careers of even settling down to get married. I am so lag behind! :( Then again, that is why I am grateful to still have my girl wanting to love me. So of all the presents I received thus far (actually also not a lot), the biggest gift I got must be her heart. I posted in my Early Birthday Celebration with Friends entry about the presents I received from friends. Here was what my dear bought for me.

The present did not come as any surprise for me though. Because she was having a hard time thinking of what to buy for me. So I gave her the suggestion of what I need. But still I appreciate her taking the time off to go shop for it! And if anyone still wants to give me a present, I want a new wireless keyboard and mouse now cause my keyboard, my left Ctrl button is faulty! “Ahh! =D Any kind soul?

Special thanks to Brittany who called me early last night to sing me a birthday song before she went to sleep. So did “Mei Mei” Amanda who wished me before she went to sleep early because she was not feeling well. And to Yun Ting and Hui Ting who wished me until this point of time when I am blogging. I believe there will be more wishes but I can’t list them here though. But still, “Thanks to everyone who wished me!

Finally… “Happy Birthday Bryan!” *like so strange to wish myself… Hehe*

My first cheque from Nuffnang!

Posted by: Bryan Chung In: Blog Entries

I have received my first cheque from Nuffnang! Such good timing, considering it is Chinese New Year. Can consider it as a red packet from Nuffnang. Oh by the way, Nuffnang is an advertising community that I am a member off. Initially I was quite skeptical if it will really earn me money. Now I am sure they will! For my first payment, I received $51.10! Now that also help me relief some cost that I spent on the Levi’s watches I bought few days ago for my girl-friend.

So if you are looking for an advertising company to earn money for your own blog, consider Nuffnang!

Let me take this chance to wish all Happy Lunar New Year! And whether you are single or attached, Happy Valentine’s Day!
