Final Sakae Sushi Meal for 2009

And finally my last Sakae Sushi meal for 2009 was with… no other than my buddy Louis! This time round we dined in at Sakae’s branch near to us – Heartland Mall. Instead of only eating sushi, I ordered some food that he has not tried before. Such as Sakae’s very tasty Obinmushi, also known as teapot soup. Louis was wondering, “How nice can just a soup be?” The funny moment came when the teapot was served; he did not even know that the cup that is used to drink the soup is on top of the teapot. He thought it was part of the teapot itself. “Haha!” And when he took the first sip, “WOAH!” was his reaction. Never had he drink such tasty soup he mentioned. We also shared a bowl of beef udon and ordered ebi (prawn) tempura.

Look at their mouse, it is so cute! :) So that is all for my time dining in Sakae Sushi this year. I look forward to next year, January when I plan to maybe their Sakae Teppanyaki for the first time. Wonder how much it will cost me. May not be cheap I think.

Presents Presents Presents!

Haha!” Actually only two more presents I received. One was a singlet Brittany bought for me while she was in Perth having her holidays last week. While the other presents I received were from Jennie! A friend of mine I made in Facebook playing (fluff)Friends and Restaurant City. She actually bought Restaurant City items that can only be bought with cash. She bought me 5 jackpots and a reindeer. Worth up to 10USD. I am so thankful and amazed at how generous some people can be when it comes to giving. Especially giving to someone who is just an online friend. :)

Oh then the present I bought for Brittany was something from Sunflower! This plant that is so-called alive. Although it will not die, but when it touches water, the flowers will close. And after it dries up, it will open again. I found it quite nice and decided to buy it for her. Thankfully she is taking good care of the flowers. She was so afraid the flowers will die. “Haha!

For now, I am still eagerly awaiting my belated Christmas presents from Lee Xiang & Christina from Malaysia! They said they bought something for me and I am still wondering what it is. Hopefully the present reaches me! The Phiten necklaces I bought for them had reached them.

Thanks Brittany and Jennie!

Wishing you Merry Christmas!

Wishing you a very happy Merry Christmas! Amidst the giving of gifts, the excitement of children and the cooking of traditional dinners, it is easy to miss “the reason for the season”, the birth of God’s son, Jesus Christ. So… “Happy Birthday to our Saviour, Jesus!

Father God, When your precious Son became a tiny baby in a stable in Bethlehem in poverty and simplicity, you changed our world. As I imagine those surroundings, I join with the shepherds and the wise men in wonder and praise. I thank you for my material live, praise you for my spiritual lives, and trust in you for my eternal life. Amen!

Jpot at VivoCity

Two nights ago, my family got together for an annual reunion dinner, traditionally for Cantonese beliefs. However this year, another three families of relatives were not in Singapore to come together to eat with my grand-mother. Hence it was left with my family and her, together with my great-aunt to have dinner. We dined in at Jpot located at VivoCity. Serving very nice steamboat, ala-carte style. My dad ordered two set dinner menu.

Very nice food! If you have the chance, do try it out. If you are on a smaller table, you can get a personal pot for your own cooking too. It was already 9.30pm when we finished eating. Many shops were closing. But I still manage to walk into Crocs and convinced my mother to buy me a new pair of shoes. The two casual shoes I have are in bad condition. One of which the rubber portion which is supposed to be white has turned to yellow. While the other I bought from Malaysia a year ago, is turning bad too. I thought my mother would not buy for me since it cost $80. But she agreed! Maybe because I mentioned the shoes are being my Christmas present.

Now that is a expensive Christmas present and I really like it a lot! Less than 24 hours more to Christmas. And Brittany is coming home tonight! She also made me so sad when this morning she SMS me saying, “Im gonna be staying one more day here :)” I went, “What?!?!?!” Thankfully she was just joking because I miss her (and the presents she bought for me). “Haha!

Saizeriya at City Square Mall

I was recommended to eat at Saizeriya after my mom together with her cell group tried it last week. She was sharing with me how nice the food is; how affordable the prices are and how good their service is. So together with Louis, Chee Hoong and Edward, we decided to give it a try. Instead of me driving, we took the train since it was so convenient. Just a few stations away from where we stayed at Kovan to Farrer Park. And just outside of Farrer Park is the newly open City Square Mall. In front of the restaurant, I greeted by the sight of this pretty waitress named Marilyn! (Haha too bad when I came home to try to search for her online profile, I came up with nothing.) Here is a video of the place and their menu.

Each of us ordered a main dish and we shared a 9″ pizza. The food really tastes good. My hamburger steak reminds me of PepperLunch while I think the most unique dish was the one Edward ordered – Squid Ink Spaghetti.

  • Squid Ink Spaghetti – $5.98 (left top)
  • Pineapple & Bacon Pizza – $6.98 (left bottom)
  • Pork & Hamburger Steak – $7.98 (center bottom)
  • Mushroom & Meat Sauce Spaghetti – $5.98 (right top)
  • Tuna Arrabbiata Spaghetti – $6.48 (right bottom)

Our total bill was just below $40. So it was about $10 per person after including the 17% taxes. Not too bad at all! I will go back and try other dishes when I get the chance.

After eating, we shopped around the mall. It was huge! How we were wishing that Heartland Mall (opposite our house) is just 1/3 as big as this mall. There are a lot of restaurants in the mall.  I was the only one who bought something. Was in this Sunflower shop where I bought three electrical candles at $9.90 for three. And I also bought a Christmas present for Brittany! I thought of getting her the candles but I thought it was too cheap considering she bought me the dolphin from Hong Kong and soon to give me another thing from Perth as she flies back tomorrow. So I bought something else for her (which I cannot show the photo yet). But here are the electrical candles I bought.

Then crazily as we were walking back towards the train station wanting to go home, Chee Hoong and Louis suddenly agreed to play bowling! Chee Hoong always likes to boast how good his bowling is comparing to his basketball skills. So we finally decided to check him out! Only both of them played while Edward and I watched. They played two games. And without the third game, consider it a draw. But overall scores, Louis still won! Well I recorded each of them hitting a strike though.

That is all for this blog! My mom bought me a new pair of shoes from Crocs as Christmas present. I will blog about it tomorrow. :)
