It will be more than a month more to go but shopping centres are already preparing for Christmas. I was at Tampines Mall together with Louis, Kenneth and Jinq-Yi for an early lunch. I was surprised to see the huge Christmas tree already up in the mall as I came up from the escalator.

So does that Christmas tree look anything like one year ago when I took the Christmas tree at Tampines Mall too? (Click here to see that post.) So my first Christmas photo this year is with Jinq-Yi! Too bad Louis and Kenneth did not want to take. Not that I did not ask them to take together.

For lunch, we decided to eat at Pizza Hut since their student meal isn’t that expensive. It was only 11am and Pizza Hut just rolled up their shuttles and we were their first customers. Initially I wanted to eat pizza but changed my mind and ate pasta instead.

After lunch we drove back to school as Jinq-Yi needed to be back at school. She went back to Malaysia over last weekend. And she bought me this Chupa-Chups from Malaysia. What is different about this lollipop is that, it is not only a lollipop but also bubblegum. Something that Singapore does not sell since gums are banned in Singapore.

I have not opened it to eat it. So I do not know how it is like. Whatever the case, “Thanks Jinq-Yi!” And one final photo is one I self-took at Ikea eating hot-dog together with Louis. It was after school and we were hungry. On the way home, we stopped by Ikea to grab a quick bite. We are getting addicted to their hot-dog. Cheap and good! Only $1 each! Have you tried it before?

Last night, together with Jinq-Yi and Louis, we ate dinner at SuperDog in White Sands Shopping Centre. That was before Jinq-Yi sent her good friend off to Australia at the airport. After Louis and I finished our intensive gym session, we drove to the airport. Fetched her and went to White Sands. I thought of simply eating at the airport since it was getting late. But she suggested eating at SuperDog. She insisted on giving me a treat which of course I had to reject. It was probably my second time eating at SuperDog. For if I remember correctly, few years ago when VivoCity first opened, I ate at that branch with my parents. But according to Louis and Jinq-Yi, the size of the hot-dogs shrinked!

I was so not full from just eating one hot-dog that I decided to eat another. Initially Jinq-Yi did not order any food for herself. So I insisted that if she wanted to treat me, she has to eat too. We agreed to share the hot-dog half each. End up she only took two small bites and I had to eat the rest! We chatted a lot through the dinner. Too bad it was getting late and the shops were closing. So I drove her home after that, followed by Louis and I went home.

Our one and only group photo we took.

First week of the new semester is over, now another week looms ahead, going into the second week. So far besides the fact that there are a lot of work to do for school, also happy to make new friend with Jinq-Yi. Also a student from my IT school but we are from a different diploma. Last week we ate Sakae Sushi together. She also gave me a packet of gummy sweets she bought from Japan during her exchange programme last month. Then for the first time she suddenly requested to web-cam over MSN. Then we were playing around and took some screen shots.

Fun times! I also introduced her to Christina. Another close friend I have from Malaysia. They were both teaching me some Malay words while we were on a conference chat. Jinq-Yi said she finally can feel “herself” – the Malaysian side again while chatting with Christina. It is nice for us to have mutual friends now! Soon I will introduce Jinq-Yi to Lee Xiang too. Yet another Malaysian friend, school mate of Christina. I cannot imagine if one fine day we will all meet in Malaysia (or even Singapore) again!

Although is only Monday, I am already looking forward to this coming weekend! Both Saturday and Sunday because Jinq-Yi promised me to visit City Harvest Church with me on Saturday. Then on Sunday, we are planning for gym session together. And if she breaks her promise… “Haha!” Only we will know what our secret is. Actually with the “punishment” set, I rather she break her promise. “Haha!“

Have a good week ahead!

Normally my blog entry about my dining experience at Sakae Sushi will be about the food. But my latest visit to Sakae Sushi at Century Square was different. I brought my new friend Jinq-Yi to join me for lunch. Before stepping into the restaurant, I was confident that I will not have to spend a single cent because of the $60 Sakae Dollars I had in my Sakae Card. However after placing all our orders, we were shocked by the supervisor who served us. She failed to inform me earlier (like upon entering the restaurant) that their computer network was not working. That means I will not be able to make use of the $60 Sakae Dollars I had.

The best she could do was to offer me a 10% discount. I argued and said, “You sure 10% discount is the best you can give?” Come on, even if I dine in and use my Sakae Card, I should be getting 12% rebate yet she only offered me 10% discount? I felt so disappointed for her failure to inform customers beforehand. We were probably the first few customers for the day since it was only 11:00am. I told her that she needed to inform customers before entering the restaurant. Since the orders were made, I would have felt so embarrassed to have to cancel any orders because it was my first time eating with Jinq-Yi. And unlike usually eating with Louis, we will normally order the usual sushi. But Jinq-Yi ordered few more costly dishes. Not her fault because I was confident initially on how much the meal will cost me only. My mood was dampen by the fact that I have to spend so much money suddenly.

Whatever the case, I still had to enjoy my first dining experience with her!

It was my first time eating the beef sukiyaki soup. Really very sweet and nice! Jinq-Yi taught me that I had to cook the beef in the soup for a little while. Then I thought the egg that was given was supposed to be cooked in the soup. Instead she told me to dip the cooked beef into the raw egg! I was afraid at first but it was nice! Then she made me eat salmon skin and scallop sushi. Few that I rarely eat. Too bad she did not want to take any photos.

Okay anyway when it was time for the bill, I asked the same supervisor if 10% discount was all she could give. She then offered us free dessert. But since we were so full, we did not want the dessert. Anyway what is the free dessert compared to supposedly a free meal? So I brought the bill to the counter. At the counter, another supervisor was there. She requested Sakae Card details to give me the 12% rebate manually later. So then I asked, “So why not just reverse the process? Instead if crediting me the 12% rebate, you deduct it manually the cost of the meal later?” So she took the trouble to make a few phone calls and eventually I got my free meal!

Now that is what I call proper and good customer service! The bill came up to $57.75. The supervisor just told me to pay $0.75 while the $57 while be deducted later on. And so “nice” of Jinq-Yi to pay the $0.75! Such cheap meal at Sakae Sushi, where to find? “Haha! Thanks Jinq-Yi for the $0.75 treat!” So we eventually left Sakae Sushi, happy customers! Especially for me if not my pocket will have burn a big hole! :)

Jinq-Yi did eventually agreed to take a photo with me when I drove her back to school after lunch!

Too bad I did not get the names of the supervisors at Sakae Sushi, Century Square. But I want to say, “Well done Sakae Sushi!” I look forward to my next visit at Sakae!
