New Adidas Basketball Shoes

I bought my third pair of basketball shoes in just over a year of playing basketball. My first pair was Adidas. Second pair Kobe Bryant’s Zoom 5 from Nike. And my latest pair is back to Adidas. Seriously I found it quite painful to have to stop wearing my Kobe’s shoes. But I have no choice. That pair of shoes had caused me too many ankle injuries. Well okay it may not be exactly the shoes at fault but still because it was low ankle cutting, it will make me more prone to ankle injuries. That is why my third pair this time is a high ankle cutting shoes. And after shopping with Louis and Chee Hoong at Queensway Shopping Centre earlier this week, I decided to go for Adidas new Young Guns 2010 shoes.

I was considering this pair with Adidas TS Commander. But decided to go for this even though it cost more. At least these shoes has Kobe’s yellow colour. And hence it will be able to match with the many Kobe jerseys I have. While the TS Commander was white and blue in colours and it was also rather old, although it was $25 cheaper than this pair that cost $95 – after bargaining down from $135.

I have worn it two times on the court so far and still adjusting to the high ankle cutting. Adidas shoes are famous for not lasting very long in terms of shoe conditions comparing to Nike. But with my lesser running around the court now, I hope this pair can last me longer! :)

My New Nike Kobe Bryant Shoes

Finally after 8 months of playing basketball with my first pair of Adidas shoes, the condition of the shoes is now quite unwearable. The soles of the shoes are nearly reduced to nothing. I find it had to run and grip my footing on the court. Worst yet if it rains, it is very dangerous. Here are my old shoes.

My dad agreed to sponsor me some money to buy my new pair of shoes long ago. But previously when I went to Queenway Shopping Centre to shop for shoes, I found nothing that I like. I wanted to try Nike instead of going back to Adidas. So I delayed buying my shoes until yesterday. I went there with Louis. And there was this new model that was not too bad looking. However Louis kept tempting me to buy the Kobe Bryant shoes. Comparing both prices the normal Nike one will cost $120 while the Kobe Bryant Nike one will cost $199. After shopping two rounds of the mall, I have decided to go for the Kobe Bryant one. This after I bargain the price down from $199 to $167. With my dad agreeing to sponsor $120 for me, I end up paying $47 from my own money for this new pair!

Special thanks to my dad willing to pay for me so much. I am excited to try my new shoes on the court however due to the monsoon rainy season; I have not been playing basketball for the past 4 days! Brittany (who is still in Hong Kong) must have been praying for the rain that I will not play basketball and hence not injure myself on the court. “Haha!” She will be back in 2 days!

Lunch with Edward & Louis at CompassPoint

So, more photos about food. Oh well, nothing much to blog about lately. So yesterday Edward, Louis and I went to CompassPoint shopping centre at Sengkang to have lunch. I wanted to go there to buy another pair of Nike socks from Royal Sporting House. I bought one pair last week and I wanted another one. Because it was comfortable to wear and it was on 50% discount. Hence the sock only cost $4.90. Before shopping, we went to the full court to have lunch. It was after deciding that Jack’s Place set lunch was over our budget for lunch. Louis and I ordering our food from this shop that sells Taiwan food. So I ate chicken while Louis at fish. Edward ate Japanese noodles.

The food is quite delicious!

Later that afternoon, Louis invited some friends over to play basketball at my place. Had a good time playing. Besides the fact that I was struck by the basketball again. This time I was not standing that close below the basketball. But one of his friends jumped for the ball and instead of catching it, he swept the ball downwards and I was just standing a metre behind him. There was just no time for me to avoid the hit and it struck my spectacles, leaving a few minor cuts on my right cheek, below my eye. But I am alright.

Was shocked to see Brittany coming down after seeing my tweet I posted about the incident. She came down just to see if I was okay amidst her being busy with her studies. So touched I was!

I am going to watch Kobe Bryant!

I am so tired now because I spent 3 hours queuing early this morning for free tickets to watch Kobe Bryant at the Singapore Indoor Stadium next week when he is on his Asia Tour. Just for the tickets, Louis and I had to skip a day of lesson at school. Edward wanted to be at Wisma Atria Nike shop at 8am by leaving home at 7:30am. But Louis and I told him it was mad. Only when we reached Wisma Atria then we realised Edward not too mad after all. Because the queue was already so long! Together with Chee Hoong, we even considered a while before deciding to join in the queue. Because initially according to our knowledge, they were only giving away 200 pair of front-row tickets today while the rest will be given at all Sistic outlets island wide. Thankfully Nike changed the plans and gave away up to 1,000 pair of tickets at the shop itself. That was why we got our tickets!

Tomorrow I will blog about my outing yesterday with Louis and Jiayun to celebrate Jiayun’s 16th birthday.

New Ball & Shirts

Just two days since the start of a new school semester, I have nothing much to say about school besides the fact that I am still trying my best to add and drop a particular subject. Been rejected twice and I am going on to try again for the third time. Anyway I went to Heartland Mall yesterday evening with Louis for a late lunch. Then after lunch, we wanted to go and look at basketballs. Been for quite some time we have been trying to look for a new ball to buy to play. Trying to look for the Wilson brand but it is really hard to find. End up finding a Nike one from Sport Links. Did not want to buy the Spalding brand because it is costly. However instead of sharing with Louis, I end up paying for it myself.

Then today our morning supposedly two hours lectures finished in an hour. Wanted to go home and have a nap but because Kah Yan did not go to school and landed up in Tampines Mall, Louis and I went to find her. Kah Yan has been troubled and I had to spend 4 hours with her by the pool side listening to her last night. That is why I wanted to nap this afternoon. Anyway we met together and ate breakfast at Long John Silver. After that we crossed over to Tampines 1 and finally able to go into Uniqlo – that Japanese fashion shop that so many were queuing to get in since the opening week of the mall. But today there were no more queues. Nothing fantastic I should say but I did end up buying three pieces of simple shirt that I can wear at home. Three pieces for $24.90 and I sold one to Louis. Consider we shared the cost actually.

At least I got shirt from Uniqlo that everyone is crazy over! Haha. Crazy!
