Early Birthday Celebration with Friends

The last time I invited friends over to my place for steamboat was last year to celebrate Louis’s birthday. Yesterday once again, I invited my friends over to celebrate my birthday, two weeks early. My birthday falls on 17th February, which would be the Chinese New Year week. While next Saturday is eve of Chinese New Year, so everyone will be eating their reunion dinner with family. Hence, that is why for the early celebrations. However yesterday steamboat was not just to celebrate my birthday but also Chee Hoong’s birthday – whose birthday is a day after mine.

Earlier in the afternoon, I went to buy the food with Louis, Chee Hoong and Brittany. My mom had already bought some food for us. But I felt it was not enough. So after checking with Louis and Chee Hoong, we decided we needed more. Special thanks to them 3 for following me to buy the food and much of the preparation work. Friends started to arrive later that evening. Got a chance to meet up with my good friend who came despite not knowing many of my other friends. Thanks to my god-sister Amanda for bringing her sister Matilda and cousin Serea over too. And of course thanks to other friends like Edward, Russell and Derrick who joined us too. I believed I mentioned everyone who came!

I did feel quite bad for Chee Hoong because it seemed more like celebrating my birthday rather than co-hosting it with him. He received one present from the group while I received about 4, from individual friends. Nevertheless he mentioned he will be having his own buffet party too on another day. Of course he needs to have another party because this year he will hit the milestone for 21st birthday! Surely he needs a better celebration!

My Phiten Bracelet

Few weeks ago I received my Phiten necklace. Yesterday I received my Phiten bracelet. Just like the necklace I bought, this bracelet was also purchased from eBay. And this is a company located in US. I brought in three pieces altogether. One for Russell, another for Louis and the last piece for myself. We bought it together so the shipping charges could be divided by three of us, hence making it cheaper. Initially I was worried 6.5″may not fit my wrist. But thankfully it was just nice!

So now I have Phiten’s necklace and bracelet. That should be all that is enough for me.

Anyway on the subject of new products, my cousin Denise had requested me to do a bit of advertisement for her blog shop. Her latest Collection #1 consist of bustier dress, oversize tunics, pocket tees/tanks and splashed paint tank.

My Phiten Necklaces

So happy that my order of two Phiten necklaces arrived! Been long since I last purchased products over the Internet. This time, I made use of eBay and bought two Phiten necklaces from a Hong Kong seller. Ever since I met Gin Wei and saw her wearing a couple of Phiten products on her, I was very interested in having one myself. However when I realized how expensive it is in Singapore (about $70 – over $100), I did not want to buy it. Especially not when I have to pay so much to try a product that I do not even know works to what it says it can do or not. However it crossed my mind to try buying it from eBay. And so thankfully I bought someone who was selling for just $15. Including the shipping charges, it will cost me only $23. That is 3 times cheaper than buying it from Singapore!

My idea was to buy two and sell one of it since it was so cheap. Initially I wanted the blue/white necklace. But I changed my mind when the product reached me because most of my basketball attires are black and red in color. Besides I figured that the black/red will not get dirty as easily as the blue/white. Even though I really like blue a lot, I kept the black/red for myself. And I have already sold the other to my basketball friend, Russell. Thanks to him, I save all the trouble of trying to sell it back in eBay.

Whether this product really works, probably I will feel it few weeks later. For now, I am just happy I got it because it is so much cheaper than buying directly from Singapore. I am also looking to purchase the bracelet now.

Kobe Bryant in Singapore

The day finally came that I got my chance to meet Kobe Bryant! Cannot believe that it has been less than half a year that I started playing basketball. And barely watched LA Lakers playing their way to being the Champions of NBA that I now have the chance to watch the Most Valuable Player – Kobe Bryant live in Singapore! It was my first time being at any basketball event. Even though it was a short two hours spent at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and barely an hour seeing Kobe Bryant, the experience was great! Even Louis who did not seem that very enthusiastic about seeing Kobe Bryant got all pumped up when Kobe Bryant was making his appearance. Louis, Chee Hoong, Edward and I specially made our own “Kobe Bryant” t-shirt to wear to the event. Well rather than paying $40 for the official Nike one that we found it too expensive, at least we have our own “Kobe Bryant t-shirt”!

Louis said, “This photo is as if we are at LA Lakers home.” I laughed.

Together with us for this event were Brittany, Russell and Dexter. All of us are neighbours except for Louis. Here is a photo with Brittany. Bad lightings though. But taken deliberately without flash so can see the banner behind us.

I did not take many photos but more of videos. Anyway here are two photos of Kobe Bryant training those who made it for the selection trial for his Kobe Bryant Training Clinic.
